On President Obama’s recent trip to Alaska, he announced the renaming of North America’s tallest peak, Mt. McKinley, which will now be known as Denali. This bold move by the Obama Administration is meant to honor the indigenous people of Alaska and to show respect for their long-standing name for that mountain.

Denny Hammond, a former teacher and coach at Reynoldsburg is Academy’s new cross-country coach. Captain Andrew Heermann’16 says, “He is tough and experienced and knows what he is doing.”

The girls volleyball team lost two games last week. Its first rival was Worthington Christian on Tuesday, September 1. Though each set was close, Academy lost in straight sets  (losing the first three).

The Vikings placed second in the MSL preseason tournament, losing to Bexley. Academy won its own tournament at Columbus Country Club by 2 strokes ahead of Wellington.  Captain Vincent Dong’16 shot a tournament-low 69.
