Academy’s girls soccer team extended its undefeated streak to 6-0-2 this week after delivering back-to-back shutout victories over Granville and Buckeye Valley.

On Monday, September 14, the Vikings faced one of their toughest challenges of the season, hosting the Granville Blue Aces, who entered the matchup ranking 43rd in Division III with a 3-0 conference record. After a defensive start, the Vikings broke through the Granville backline when sophomore Lexi F. slipped a through ball to sophomore Sydney S., who sped past the defense to find the back of the net. The attacking duo struck again in the second half for goal number two. To end the night, junior Addison M. sent a ball over the top to Sydney, securing the first win against them in three years.

The Vikings traveled on Thursday, September 16, to Buckeye Valley for a conference game against the Barons, who owned a rough 2-5-2 record on the season. The first forty minutes were a slow start for both teams until late in the second half when junior Lianna L. delivered a lofted free kick for Lexi F. to rush the goal and score on the volley. The game ended in a 1-0 victory for the Vikings after the match was cut short due to a series of weather delays. 

On Wednesday, September 23, the team will travel to take on its conference rivals, the Bexley Lions, who are boasting an impressive 7-2-1 record and currently hold the number one spot in the Central Buckeye League Conference.

Then, on Saturday at 2:00p.m., Academy will host the Cristo Rey Cougars, who sit 0-6 on the season.
