On Friday, January 22, the boys basketball team celebrated Senior Night with a 53-43 win against West Jefferson. The largest student section of the season, along with an ESPN desk and commentators, came out to support seniors Jack Mills, Jake Mitchell, Sam Tuckerman, and Matt Watters.

In their January 23 match against Briggs Columbus, the Vikes finished 4th out of 9 teams. Calvin Wuorinen’16 and Josh Pearson’18 both won their weight class. Wuorinen was undefeated in all five of his matches. Pearson was also undefeated with a record of 3-0.

On Friday, January 22, the boys swimming team finished first in its home meet against Bexley with a score of 134 points, 107 points ahead of Bexley.

On Wednesday, January, 20, the boys bowling team faced off against its long time rival, Bishop Ready. Senior Sean Reagan stated this match was “the biggest match of the season.”

Defeating Teays Valley 121-41 on Friday, January 8th, and then defeating Granville 95-73 on Saturday, January 9th, the girls had a grand kickstart to the new year.

Back into action after a three-week break with a meet on Friday, January 8, and another on Saturday, January 9, the boys first competed against Teays Valley at home and won every event and finished first with a score of 115, 61 ahead of Teays Valley. On Friday, December 4th, the girls lost to Bishop Watterson 65-105. Seniors Sydney Brault and Sarah Campbell, Audrey Grammel’17, and Jane Li’18, led the team with strong swims. Brault won the 500 free, Campbell won the 100 back, and Brault, Campbell, Grammel, and Li placed first in the 400 relay.
