Boys Basketball back on Its Feet

Following a tough last couple of games, the Vikings got back on their feet tonight after defeating London. The start of the game was shaky with the boys losing 25-19 before halftime. Boys Basketball: 6-13

On February 13, the Vikings played West Jefferson, whom they previously beat 54-39. But this time, they couldn’t score  a win. The team lost 48-33. Their shooting percentage factored into their loss, being lower than usual. Today, February 17th, the team plays away against London. This Friday, they  face Madison Plains and then Johnstown on Saturday.

Bowling: Senior Night

On February 5th, the Academy bowling team celebrated senior night. Recognized were, senior boys Mario Bosca, David Brown, Ryan Cologgi, Vijay Kaza, Max Smith, and Ethan Zoog and senior girls Sydnie Boykins, Maddie Edwards, Emma Farrenkopf, Leya Mohsin, Caroline Savage, Talia Shiroma, and Allie Wallace. Both teams bowled against St. Francis DeSales.

Girls Swim Team Wins MSL

 This past Saturday the girls swim team won the Mid State League Championships with 357 points, more than 150 points ahead of the second place team.

Boys Swim Team Makes a Splash at MSL

Last Saturday, January 31st, the boys Swim team defeated Teays Valley, Bexley, Grandview, Worthington Christian, Fairfield Union, Liberty Union, Fisher Catholic, and Bloom-Carroll at the Mid State League Championships. The team had a final score of 357, with the next closest team scoring 190.

Boys Basketball drops to 6-9 after Tough Loss

The boys were defeated 60-46 by Worthington Christian on February 3. They knew it would be a tough match going in since they lost to Worthington Christian 60-53 earlier in the season, but they put up a good fight.

Swimming Senior Night

This past Tuesday, January 27th, the Columbus Academy swim team had its senior night to acknowledge the years and hard work of senior girls, Ana Clavijo, Alex Keith, Anya Kone’, Sydney Lawrence, Taylor True, Emma Watson, Abby Wilson, and senior boys: Brian Burke and Dimitri Vasilkov.

Bowling News

On Saturday, January 31st, at 1:00pm, Academy’s bowling team participated in the Columbus Bowl MSL Championship with eight other teams at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl. After six hours of play, Academy’s girls bowling team got MSL runner up with Talia Shiroma’15 making first team all-MSL.
