Young Girls Basketball Rebuilding

It’s no secret the girls basketball team has struggled this year. The team of thirteen, including seven 9th graders, starts only freshmen, coach Gepper explains. The boys basketball team, poised for a post-season run, starts all seniors. Gepper has called this a “rebuilding year” and believes such a young team has great hope for the future.

Though victory has been elusive, the team tries to remain upbeat. As sophomore Kelly Brown explains, “We are having kind of a rough season, but we are taking our lumps.” “Lumps,” a term used by the team and coined by coach Gepper, refers to the ups and downs of the season. While there have been down moments for this team, it also claimed a decisive victory against our rival, CSG.

While the girls basketball team is in a slump at the moment, there is great hope for the future. As the young team matures, it will undoubtedly improve. For the downs they experience now, there will be ups to come. We look forward to seeing the team build and progress. After all, sometimes pain is necessary for future success.

The girls basketball team plays @ Wellington today: Tuesday, January 22 at 6PM.
