End of Girls Basketball Season

Going into their first tournament game tonight, February 24th, nerves were high for girls. Given the past record of their opponent, Africentric–who recently lost against Eastmoor–had a winning streak of 141 games. With the Viking’s record of 1-18, things looked bleak.

Swimmers at Districts

On Friday, February 20th, the boys and girls swim team both received District Team Runner-Ups. Head coach, Coach Craig Yascoe, says, “Everyone swam very well. We had about 90% personal record swims on Friday. It was a very exciting meet all the way through with fantastic performances by our swimmers who represented CA very well!

End of Season for Bowling Teams

The Academy girls placed 9th with senior Emma Farrenkopf as Academy’s girls high bowler. The team scored a 539, 596, and 683 and  placed at 10th but  powered through six baker games, ending with 704. Boys Take Sectionals in Swimming

On Saturday the 14th, the boys swim team raced against 16 opponents for the division 2 Sectionals title. Academy led the way with a team score of 302, nearly 120 points ahead of the runner up, Granville. The boys relay team of Le’17, Dreisbach’18, Goldfarb’17, Warren’17 won the 200-yard medley relay and the 400-yard freestyle

Girls Win Swimming Sectionals

This past Saturday, the girls swim team won the Division 2 Sectionals title by 45 points. Abby WIlson’15 won the 100 and 200-yard freestyle, Anya Kone’15 won the 50-yard freestyle, Audrey Grammel’17 won the 100-yard breaststroke, and the team won the 200 and the 400-yard freestyle relay (Anya Kone’15, Sydney Brault’16, Sarah Campbell’16, Abby Wilson’15).

Boys Basketball: 6-13

On February 13, the Vikings played West Jefferson, whom they previously beat 54-39. But this time, they couldn’t score  a win. The team lost 48-33. Their shooting percentage factored into their loss, being lower than usual. Today, February 17th, the team plays away against London. This Friday, they  face Madison Plains and then Johnstown on Saturday.

Bowling: Senior Night

On February 5th, the Academy bowling team celebrated senior night. Recognized were, senior boys Mario Bosca, David Brown, Ryan Cologgi, Vijay Kaza, Max Smith, and Ethan Zoog and senior girls Sydnie Boykins, Maddie Edwards, Emma Farrenkopf, Leya Mohsin, Caroline Savage, Talia Shiroma, and Allie Wallace. Both teams bowled against St. Francis DeSales.
