Last Tuesday, May 3rd, the CA Girl’s Track team emerged victorious from a four team meet on Senior Night. In their last home meet of the season, the Vikings amassed 110 points, edging out second place Bishop Ready that finished with 91.5. Northridge and Madison Christian finished a distant third and fourth place, respectively.
Academy’s relay teams powered their impressive victory. Their 4×200, 4×400, and 4×800 meter relay teams all placed first place. Their 4×200 meter relay team, comprised of Briyana Dragin’19 Jessica Griffin’17, Ginnie Ma’19, and Louise Rosler’16, finished with a time of 1:56.70, ten seconds faster than the second place Ready relay. The 4×800 relay team of Jacinta Crestanello’17, Lily Kaufman’17, Madeline Tuckerman’19, and Suzie Frankovich’17 posted another dominant victory, winning with a time of 10:13.23 seconds, 24 seconds faster than the second place finisher. Rosler and fellow senior Cobi Warstler led the 4×400 relay team, including Audrey Grammel’17 and Crestanello, to a close victory. Their time of 4:26.75 seconds edged out second place Ready by three tenths of a second.
The Vikings also had stellar individual performances in multiple events. Rosler capped an impressive career with a win in the 300 meter hurdles, posting a time of 49.44 seconds. Dragin followed up a solid relay, showing with a victory in the 200 meter dash and winning by .02 seconds at a time of 29.04. And Grammel won the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:36.65. Frankovich placed second at 6:11.98 seconds.
The 100 meter dash was a particularly strong event for the Vikings. Academy swept the top three spots, with Griffin winning with a time of 13.38 seconds. Ma and Dragin rounded out the top three with times of 13.75 and 14.05 seconds, respectively.
