On Wednesday, April 9, the Service Board and the American Red Cross will host Academy’s final Blood Drive of the year in the Athletic Complex from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Donating takes only 25 minutes but saves three lives.
Shaper Miranda BY leads the blood drive and says, “As one of the Shapers who organizes our Blood Drives, I was motivated to become even further involved by donating blood. Participating in blood drives is such an easy, accessible way to make a difference because each donation only takes twenty-five minutes and can save three lives. As the Red Cross staff are always very knowledgeable, organized, and caring, I have never felt too worried about donating. Additionally, the students and teachers involved are very supportive and make sure that each donor feels okay before and after.” Miranda says she only feels a little tired after donating, but with snacks, beverages, and some rest she always felt back to normal quickly.
If you are 16 and meet the requirements listed HERE, please consider donating.
Here is the link to sign up to donate! Anyone under 18 must fill out and bring a printed copy of the PARENTAL CONSENT FORM.
All eligible donors are encouraged to participate, but students cannot miss class.
The next drive will be held in October.
