What a better way it was to spend Presidents Day serving our community. On Monday, February 19, the Service Board did just that by hosting a bread-baking event in the Dining Hall with three shifts: 9-10, 10-2 in the morning and 2-3 p.m. Shapers Maddie E., Rachael S., and Lynn Y. led the 24 volunteers, who started their day by preparing dough for the rolls. While waiting for the bread to rise, the first group participated in a school-wide recycling session, collecting the bins from each classroom. The second group cleaned the Clothing Closet, organizing bins by size. The last group crafted blankets for Paws for Cawws, which makes blankets for dog shelters around central Ohio.
After their rotations, it was time to go back to the bread. Each volunteer cut and shaped the rolls, baked them, and then bagged them to be donated to the Faith Mission.
Participants made 304 rolls and 12 blankets. Each volunteer received three events, completing this semester’s event requirement.
Thank you to Ms. Bening, the shapers, and all volunteers for this event’s success.
