If you want to gain events, even though next week is a four-day, two significant serving opportunities are available.
On Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, day, Service Board will hosting Baking 4 Good in the Dining Hall. Volunteers will prepare dough and make bread rolls to be donated to Faith Mission and decorate quilt squares for Project Linus which provides blankets to children who are terminally and chronically ill or have suffered a trauma. Volunteers will also make signs for Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day during shifts: 9-10 a.m., 10 a.m.-2 p.m., and 2-3 p.m.
The winter blood drive on Wednesday, January 22, runs from 8:00 a.m. -1:30 p.m. in the Athletic Lobby. Students can donate during the Common Hour or in their free periods but are not permitted to miss class. Service Board’s goal is 30 donors. Your 25-minute donation could save three lives.
Each volunteer must meet be in good general health, maintaining an iron level, and at least 16 years old. All donors will receive a five-dollar coupon for the Belgian Waffle Truck.
Students cannot gain events for donating blood, but they earn credit if they sign up to organize and help run the event.
