New Year, new Shapers! The race for new shapers has begun in our Service Board. The existing shapers vote on March 4 to determine who the new shapers will be.
Shapers are elected leaders on the Service Board with additional steering committee meetings. Shapers are committed to service on and off campus and are expected to lead and manage 2-3 Service Board events each year. By April of the shaper’s junior year, 45 hours must be completed, and they are required to attend one extended leadership workshop with CA students in mid-June.
To become a shaper, a student must complete a questionnaire with a 300-word limit by March 4. The existing shapers read these anonymous questionnaires and rank the candidates by who best suits the job. Sometimes more applicants will be accepted than usual–but only if qualified. The current shapers look at grade and gender, and Ms. Conti gives information about the students’ teachers’ recommendations.
If you want to be more involved in the service within the community and are a first- or second-year student, consider signing up to be a shaper.
