The girls track team traveled to Westerville South to compete against 23 schools for the district title and placed first in a record-breaking day, securing their spot for regionals.
Sam F., Olivia L., Melanie Q., and Clara S. won the 4×800 in 10:10.36, and Irena A., Zoya A., Mila B., and Caitlynn H placed 2nd in the 4×200 with 1:48.62. Olivia L. earned 1st in the 800 at 2:24.94, followed by Sam F. in 3rd at 2:28.07. Melanie was district runner-up in the 3200 in 12:26.63, and Zoya A., Sam F., Caitlynn H., and Olivia L. placed 3rd in the 4×400 at 4:12.16.
Ali K. soared to a 5’6″ mark in high jump, tying her school record and earning 1st place overall. Irena A., Mila B., Caitlynn H., and Alli K. placed 4th in the 4×100 in 51.82, breaking their school record. Then Zoya A. placed 2nd in the 300m hurdles at 47.92, breaking the school record once again.
With a final score of 92, the girls became the Central District champions! They are off to regionals in Lexington on May 25 and May 27.
