On Tuesday, January 11, members of the Academy community convened in the Mack to celebrate a remarkable achievement for senior Sophie Spolter: 1,000 high school career points. 

Parents, faculty, and students designed celebratory signs to honor Spolter before the girls basketball team tipped off against Fisher Catholic at 7:30. 

Spolter entered the game with 999 points, keeping the fan section on the edge of its seats to witness her first net. With about five minutes left in the first quarter, Spolter received a pass from Katie J. at the edge of the three-point line and shot an all-netter to make her total 1,002 points. 

The referees temporarily paused the game to allow Spolter to receive the basketball at the center of the court with Head Coach Ashar Harris.

Reflecting on this momentous occasion, Spolter says, “It felt good to reach the milestone, especially because all of my teammates were super supportive and encouraged me during it.”
