On Thursday, October 10, the girls volleyball team played its last home game of the regular season against Worthington Christian and hosted its third annual Think Pink event,  in honor of breast cancer awareness month. The girls raised nearly $2,000. for research. 

The feeling of community was strong in the Mack. Before our girls began the first set, they honored the breast cancer survivors that were present with a pink rose to each. 

The first set was tied up from the start, with a block from Lily Plaugher’21 and pancake from Sophia Freytag’20, helping to break Worthington Christian’s lead. A tip by Olivia Pierre-Louis’21 alleviated some tension in the neck-and-neck set, but the Warriors came back to take the first. 

The second set was filled with good teamwork, with Plaugher having a good hit going off the block and out and Mackenzie Smith’20 making a save. This was not enough for the Vikes, who conceded, 13-21 and were defeated 15-25 in the last set.

The Vikings’ regular season record is 10-8. They plays districts on Saturday, October 19.
