For the students of Columbus Academy, there was no better way to embrace the prevalent call for peace and understanding than through the “A Peace of my Mind” exhibit.
Author and photographer, John Noltner, gave the art department’s new gallery space his home for the past week, inviting students from all divisions to learn from the stories he shares.
Students wandered through the three levels of white banners, printed with black and white photographs and paragraphs of quotes, each of which was prompted by the question, “What does peace mean to you?” Answers ranged from the importance of inner peace to the impact of community collaboration.
Responses came from that came from all walks of life, from all around the country, from teachers to Rabbis, from immigrants to artists.
With notepads and pens in hand, English class students analyzed each banner, taking down impactful quotes and stories. They even had a turn to share their own thoughts by showcasing their answers to the question on a white board within the exhibit.
Next, Nolter and his exhibit travel to Green Bay, Wisconsin to spread the message of “exploring the meaning of peace one story at a time.”
