End of the Semester Serving Opportunities

Bowls prepared for Empty Bowls (Bittania T./Staff)

As the semester ends, time to complete events is fleeing, yet plenty of events are left.

On Friday, December 13, Academy will host its annual Empty Bowls event at the Westerville Senior Center at 350 N. Cleveland Ave., Westerville, from 5 to 7 p.m. Proceeds will go to Habitat for Humanity.

Tickets are $20, which includes one bowl of bottomless soup, crackers, drinks, and cookies. Tickets must be purchased in advance.

Volunteers must be ceramic students and can choose from three shifts: moving items, setting up and serving, and cleaning up. Each shift is worth two events.

For non-ceramics students, Art Society and Service Board are partnering to host gingerbread cookie making on Thursday, December 19, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Dining Hall. Volunteers will frost approximately 200 cookies, provided by SAGE. Cookies will be donated to Columbus Food Rescue, which redistributes excess food to shelters, agencies, and other community groups. Volunteers will spend the first 15-30 minutes setting up, the next hour decorating, and the last 15-30 minutes cleaning up. Each volunteer will receive two events.

Two Tidy-up events are left, each qualifies as half an event– another great option for completing hours.
