On Tuesday, October 24, the Columbus Academy boys soccer team faced Jonathan Alder on Hondros Field in an attempt to continue in the Ohio High School Athletic Association postseason playoffs, but the Vikes ended their journey in a 1-4 loss.
The Vikings kept the ball on the opponent’s side of the field through the first half but were down 0-1. At the start of the second half, Nick D. made a strong strike with his penalty kick, but the Jonathan Alder’s goalie gambled the correct side and blocked the kick and gained a second goal through a penalty kick and another two goals from the left side. Even with senior goalie Evan S. who made a number of saves and junior Dante R.’ first and only paled to the Pioneers’ four nets.
Coach Montoya led the Vikes who concluded with an 11-3-3 and 4-1-1 in conference play.
