Girls Track Dominates the Competition

The girls track team’s results were off the charts when they faced Johnstown, Grove City Christian, Highland, and Licking Heights on Friday, May 5, claiming first place across six events and breaking two school records.

In shuttles hurdles, Zoya A., Ella L., Eleanor S., and Sam W. won 1st place in 1:07.96 and broke the school’s record.

Zoya A. beat the 100m hurdle record at 16.60, previously held by Ginnie M.’19 at 16.65. Lizzie B., Sam F., Olivia L., and Melanie Q. placed 4th in the distance medley, breaking their own record from earlier this season at 13:38.84.

Irena A., Mila B., Alli K., and Sam W. earned 1st in the 4×100 at 53.31, Cat G., Olivia L., Sophie L., and Melanie Q., won the 4x1600m at 25:33.36, Alli K. and Olivia L. won the high jump event with a combined mark of 9’8”, and Alli K. also placed 1st in the long jump at 28’9.25.

Alli S. and Yassah T. earned 3rd for the team in shot put at a combined distance of 53’7”. With a total score of 42, the girls claimed first overall for the day.

The team travels to Whitehall on Tuesday, May 9 and Thursday, May 11 to compete in the MSL championships.
