Girls Track Undefeated in Record-Breaking Week

The track team hosted its first home meet on Tuesday, April 11 against Cristo Rey, Horizon Science, KIPP, and Tree of Life and placed 1st with a 222 score after winning 13 of 16 events. Margaret K., Olivia L., Melanie Q., and Clara S. won the 4×800 in 11:42.65. In hurdles, Zoya A., ran a 16.8 the 100m and 50.99 in the 300. Sydney F. ran a 1:06.58 in the 400m dash. Alli K. sailed to a 5’5 in the high jump at 5’5 and in the long jump a 15’9.75.” Irena A., Mila B., Isa E., and Sam W. in the 4×100 at 52.18, and Tori R. in discus at 74’.

The Vikings traveled to Liberty Union on Saturday, April 15, competing against 11 opponents. It was an exceptional day as the girls placed 1st in the meet and earned three school records: Alli K. won the high jump event with her triple jump of 31’ 7.75”, distance medley runners Zoya A., Sam F., Olivia L., and Melanie Q. finished in 1st with a time of 13:59.7, and the 4×100 with the runner-up record of 53.0 seconds with Irena A., Mila B., Isa E., and Sam W. Melanie Q. said she was “super happy with the team’s performance. Everyone’s hard work the past month paid off!”

The team’s next meet will be at Worthington Christian on Tuesday, April 18, followed by the Pat McMillan meet at Whitehall-Yearling on Saturday, April 22.
