Academy Welcomes New Dietitian

Katie W. (Milana B./Staff)

Throughout this semester, Academy will have its own dietitian available to all students. Earning her undergraduate degree as a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience at Mount Union, Katie W. is a first-year  master’s student  in Dietetics and Nutrition at The Ohio State University. We sat down with Katie to spotlight her new role in our community and to share the importance of healthy eating habits.

Why did you decide to pursue nutrition?

I have always been interested in the medical field, particularly in sports nutrition and eating disorders. These topics are important for everyone, especially athletes.

What do you aim to bring to the community as our dietitian?

I want to be a resource for athletes because nutrition is an important part in that, as well as educating them on healthy eating habits.

How can people schedule meetings with you?

Because I do not have my own CA email, they should contact Coach R. (athletic performance trainer), who will schedule a private, one-on-one session at their convenience. I will be on-campus Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Do you hope to relieve the stigma associated with eating habits?

Yes, because the media gets a lot of bad reputation for that, but education is the best way to combat this. Not all food is bad for everyone, and everybody is different when it comes to their individual nutrition!

Feel free to introduce yourself to Katie W., and to connect with Coach R. if you wish to talk with Katie about creating your personalized health journey. She is open to talking with all students, both athletes and non-athletes, because nutrition is an important aspect of everyone’s overall well-being.

Welcome, Katie!
