Boys Swimming Wins MSL for Tenth Year

Columbus Academy’s boys swimming won its 10th consecutive Mid-State League championship with 367 points on Saturday, January 28. 

Our relay teams were on fire with Andrew H., William H., Alek B., and Gavin L., clocking in at 1:40.47 winning the 200 medley. Alek B., Andy L., Greyson T., and Luke B. placed first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:32.91. William H., Andy L., Andrew H., and Gavin L. secured the win in the 400 freestyle swimming a 3:21.67. 

In individual wins, Gavin L. secured first place in the 50 freestyle in 22.76.  Andrew H. won  in the 100 butterfly in 54.59. Luke B. swam a 5:22.29 in the 500 freestyle. 

William H., Andrew H., and Gavin L. all placed 2nd in the 100 breaststroke, backstroke, and freestyle, respectively. 

William H. also finished 2nd in the 200 yard individual medley. 

On Tuesday, January 24, the Aquavikes claimed a triumph against Granville and Desales with 140 points. 

Andy L., Mircea B., Alek B., and Gavin L. placed 1st in the 200 medley . William H., Alek B., Andrew H., and Luke B. won the 200 freestyle relay. William H., Andrew H., Andy L., and Gavin L. took the victory in the 400 freestyle. 

William H. claimed the 200 yard freestyle win.  Andy L. swam a 2:05.99 victory in the 200 yard individual medley. Andrew H. finished first in both the 50 yard and 500 yard freestyle. William H., Luke B., and Alek B. finished 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the 100 yard freestyle. Gavin L. won the 100 yard backstroke, finishing in under one minute. 

The Aquavikes compete in sectionals at home February 11.
