On Saturday April 9, Academy’s Science Olympiad team competed in its first in-person state tournament since Covid hit.

This year’s tournament differed from the previous 8 years since no one could not compete side-by-side because of the virus. but this year, the competitors gathered together at Academy and virtually competed against 15 students in over 15 events.

Many of the Olympiad students were running back and forth between Model UN, which Academy was alos hosting. This made for some last minute changes to the schedule, but everyone on the team competed.

Co-captain Raaghuv V  said, “It was exciting to see everyone in person again. The room was a bit anxious because of the time constraints on each challenge, but the competitions were satisfying to complete.”

Dr. Nandor organized and led the competition. The team had been creating builds and preparing for competitions since January and was  happy to compete at states, placing  34th overall at the Division C conference.
