The Book of Boba, Disney thrills with a Star Wars Saga addition

The Book of Boba Fett may seem like an expansion series on the Mandalorian because of its success, but this film has enough action packed storytelling and inspired world building to carve out a place for this show as its own.

The series starts after the events of “Return of the Jedi,” showing our main character, Boba Fett, escaping near death in the sarlacc pit. Then the Tusken Raiders,  a desert dwelling tribe, capture him. While this part of the story is told in flashbacks, in the present – Fett took the throne of the now dead Jabba the Hutt and takes charge of his criminal empire.

This show does not have a boring moment. There is always something at stake if there’s a small dialogue only scene, you know every word they say is important. For fans of the franchise this show  is exhilarating because of all the old characters and places being revitalized in an amazing show that expands and improves everything it highlights. Lastly people enjoy it because it just seems fun, Fett leading his own criminal empire while you see in flashbacks him fighting alongside Tuskens in a Lawrence of Arabia inspired series of events, everything in it feels fun, while of course it’s not immune to its own cheesy moments, they’re few and far between.

Created by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, this movie is well worth the watch.

Rated TV-14, the first episode aired on December 29, 2021, with new episodes released every Wednesday. Run is 50-minute and streams exclusively on Disney.
