Senior Night Ends Volleyball Season

On Monday, October 11, the team pulled off a win against Centerburg on its turf and used this momentum to its advantage during Senior Night on Tuesday, October 12.

A heartfelt ceremony before the game honored varsity seniors Kerry O’Connor, Aislinn Ahern, Evelyn Aebi, and Lindsay Sutherland, as well as junior varsity seniors Naimah Edwards, Aniah Crockett, Isabella Kaswinkel, and Zora Brown.

Supported by a cheering student section, their teammates, and their families, every player—especially the seniors—put everything into defeating the CSG Unicorns. Co-captain O’Connor had five ace serves and three kills throughout the night, and co-captain Ahern had nine digs by the end of the game. Senior teammate Lindsay Sutherland had one kill, and Evelyn Aebi supported her team with three digs.

Junior co-captain Sophia Costantine supported the Seniors on their special night with nine kills, and Sophomores Kelli Raque, Eliora Teferi, and Maddie Martin secured 18 kills in total.

The team decisively triumphed over their opponents, making for a wonderful end to the special night.

On Thursday, October 14, the girls traveled to Worthington Christian. Building on their high spirits, they played a good game but fell to the Warriors and ended withan 8-11 record.

On Tuesday, October 19, the team kicked off its post-season with the OHSAA Sectional Tournament to face Worthington Christian for the third time this season. Having suffered two losses, the Vikes lost again, if only by a narrow margin of  23-25.

While the team will lose strong players this year, Sophia Costantine’23 will carry on the team’s legacy next season.
