Mixed Bag for Girls Basketball

After two weeks of quarantine (under which all teams comply when a player tests positive for COVID-19), the girls basketball team was ready to get back on the court. 

The girls kicked off their week on Thursday, February 11 with a win against Licking Heights 52-46. Sophie Spolter’22  and Claire Cahall[23 carried the team to victory with 18 and 13 points, respectively. 

On Friday, February 12, the Vikings took on the New Hope Christian Statesmen at home in the Jones Gym. Spolter secured 10 points, with Cahall and McClendon’21 both scoring 7 points. Claudia Warstler’22 was close behind with 6 points. Despite the girls’ hard work, they suffered a narrow loss 30-33. 

For its last game of the week on Saturday, February 13, the team played at West Jefferson. Building onto her hot streak, Spolter racked up 17 points as Cahall and McClendon scored 7 each, with Warstler’22, Gouhin’21, and Jackson’22 securing 4 points in total. For a second time in arow, the girls feel-this time in a 33-52 loss against Roughriders. 

At 6-8, the girls will face Centerburg away on Wednesday, February 17.
