Scenes from Justice Ginsburg Lying in State

On Thursday, September 24, I traveled to our nation’s capital to pay my respects to Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. I was joined by thousands of Americans who also congregated to the Supreme Court to express their gratitude for the Justice. Before visiting the Justice in repose, we waited in socially-distanced lines stretching blocks beside the Supreme Court and in front of the Capitol. Some brought flowers, illustrations, and letters to leave by the Court, while others demonstrated their admiration for Justice Ginsburg with “Notorious RBG” tee-shirts and masks. While the energy at the Supreme Court was collectively remorseful, there was also a palpable sense of hopefulness and resolve.

Justice Ginsburg will become the first woman to lie in state in the U.S. Capitol.
