On Friday, February 23, students packed into “The Mack” bleachers to celebrate the end of our winter sports season and to hype up for the upcoming spring term.

To the raucous cheers reverberating through the gym, senior Vikings Luke Tiberi and Ruby Moss listed off the numerous impressive and record-breaking accomplishments of Academy’s 2018 winter sports teams.

Following this recognition, energetic third-graders spilled onto the court and performed their “Little Dribblers” routine and eager to show off their talent and hard work to the whole school.

After the dribblers, students competed in a creative contest to determine who would have first serve in an impressive game of table tennis. Juniors Suriya Sundaram and senior Harry Zaye roused spirits in their play-off.

Inspired by the winter olympics in Pyeongchang and the successful inaugural season of CA ice hockey,  middle and upper School students and faculty then contended in an intensely contested floor hockey match that ended in a 0-0 draw.

To end the spirited event, juniors Chris Boyle and Hayden Compton battled in a high-flying dunk contest. Lower Schoolers screamed and watched in awe as the two athletes slam dunked through rims.

As everyone left The Mack feeling energetic and full of spirit, Friday’s Winter pep rally solidified pride in this winter’s athletic success, while priming motivation and hope for more of the same this spring
