The Stock Market has started the new year off with a bang, with the Dow-Jones Industrial Average closing at record breaking highs above 25,000, and for the first time ever, the Nasdaq exceeded 7,000.

Five Academy seniors capitalized on the pasts week’s record-breaking stock market closings in a huge fashion.

Davis Friedman, Herman Moultrie, and Matt Schiano bested 328 teams statewide to claim first place in the challenge. Cameron Kharazi and Cole Walter were runners-up.

Under the guidance of economics teacher, Mr. Exline, this Academy team claimed first prize, which tallied over a thirty-thousand dollar profit after the game’s ten-week period. Academy led with a gross portfolio value of over $130,000.

Placing first allows Academy’s team to participate in the State Portfolio challenge this May.
