Jessica Griffin’17 on her way to the top-20 at the Otterbein Invitational
It was a dark and rainy morning as the boy and girls cross country teams headed to Otterbein University in Westerville for their weekly Saturday morning meet.
Despite the challenging terrain, both teams had top-10 finishes. The girls placed sixth overall with a score of 100, and the boys placed seventh with a score of 176.
Nick Robie’18 was the leader for the boys, finishing 17th overall out of 442 runners.
Annalise Grammel’20 and Audrey Grammel’17 finished second and third, respectively out of 136 runners for an impressive placement for Columbus Academy.
After their own meet, the CA students stayed to support alumna Cobi Warstler, who is currently a freshman at the College of Wooster. She finished 67th out of 214 runners in the college race.
Six boys and three girls from Academy were ranked in the top 30 Division III runners from Central Ohio. The list included Robie, Grayson Mick’17, Nick Watson’18, Charlie Sabgir’20, Liam Mccann’19, and Chris Heerman’18 and Grammel’20, Grammel’17, and Jessica Griffin’17.
Both teams continue to work towards more top-five finishes in the upcoming weeks, and the hard work they put in during preseason proves they have the dedication and determination to do just this.
Next week the team hopes to follow up their strong performance at the Pickerington Central Invitational.
