Girls Track Places Fourth at April 29th Meet

Academy’s  girls track team ran its way to another strong showing at the Hamilton Township Invitational on April 29. The girls finished fourth out of 11 teams, with 73 points. Several girls posted impressive results against some tough competition.

Audrey Grammel’17 was Academy’s strongest runner. She placed second in the 1600 meter dash with a time of 5:32.36 seconds, good for the best Viking finish of the day. She also placed third in the 800 meter dash at 2:34.88 seconds, with teammate Cobi Warstler’16 finishing in fourth at 2:39.28 seconds.

The Viking relays delivered a consistently strong performance. Their 4×200, 4×400, and 4×800 relays all finished in fourth place. The 4×200 relay of Briyana Dragin’18, Jessica Griffin’17, Ginnie Ma’19, and Louise Rosler’16 finished with a time of 1:53.22, less than four seconds behind first place finishers Hilliard Darby.

Jacinta Crestanello’17, Grammel, Rosler, and Warstler rounded out the fourth place 4×400 relay with a time of 4:25.02 seconds. Crestanello headed the 4×800 relay that also included Suzie Frankovich’17, Lily Kaufman’17, and Madeline Tuckerman’19. They posted a time of 11:04.51 seconds.

Griffin also ran well individually. She finished fifth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.63 seconds. Griffin followed that up with another fifth place showing in the 200 meter dash at 28.35 seconds.

The team’s next meet is home on Tuesday, May 3, against Ready, Northridge, and Northside Christian. It’s the girls’ last home meet of the season, so come out and support!
