Girls Track Continues Strong Running, Wins Another Meet

On Tuesday, April 19, the CA girls track team won a home meet against Fairfield Union, Patriot Prep, and Wellington. The Vikes secured a 52 point victory, outpacing second place Fairfield Union by a sizable margin.

Academy’s relay teams were stellar once again. Their 4×800 meter relay team of Jacinta Crestanello’17, Maddie Tuckerman’19, Lily Kaufman’17, and Ryan Milbourne’19 won with a time of 12:57.01. The 4×400 meter relay also won convincingly. Crestanello, Jessica Griffin’17, and seniors Louise Rosler and Cobi Warstler all ran strong legs for a time of 4:43.37 and another Viking victory.

Ginnie Ma’19 and Audrey Grammel’17 also turned in strong individual performances. Ma won an impressive mix of track and field events that boosted her team to victory. She emerged triumphant from the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 18:00 and crushed the competition in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 53.82, almost six seconds faster than second place. Grammel won the 400 meter dash at 1:05.12, one of four Vikings that placed in the top five.

Another first place finish came from Yas Salon’18, who won the 1600 meter run at 7:00.05. Fellow sophomore, Khloe Dubenion’18 finished second in both the shot put and discus events.

The team’s next meet is away at Columbus School for Girls against CSG, Bexley, and Grandview Heights on Tuesday, April 26.
