On Tuesday, April 12, the boys had a strong start to the week, with a 5-0 win against Worthington Christian. Each player won his court in two sets, making it another solid victory for Academy.
The Vikes’ winning streak was cut short on Thursday, April 14, however, when they faced a tough loss against St. Charles. First singles Jacob Wareti’16 and first doubles Hirsh Hede’16 and Austin Lawrence’17 won their courts without difficulty, but the other three courts fell short, upsetting the team’s high hopes for a win.
Thursday’s loss was compounded on Saturday, April 16, when the team lost to University School, 2-3 and St. Xavier, 1-4. This transpired despite a strong effort from the boys, who had tried to overcome last year’s similar disappointment.
The team is determined to make a comeback this week when it plays Granville on Monday, April 18, Grandview Heights on Tuesday, April 19, and West Jefferson on Wednesday, April 20.
