Wrestling Starts Season Strong

On Saturday, December 5, the wrestling team participated in two different tournaments. Captain Calvin Wuorinen’16 and Anthony Sugar’17 wrestled at St. Francis DeSales, while the rest of the team wrestled at Groveport Madison.

Wuorinen and Sugar both placed third and fourth respectively, with Wuorinen finishing 4-1 and Sugar going 2-2. Wuorinen said, “We had some tough matches, but it was a good tournament to start off the year with because we both placed pretty well. We both had some pretty good guys in our weight classes but stuck with them, and there were lots of D1 and D2 schools there, so it was good competition.”

Jeremiah Mills’17, Michael Kusi’17, Cole Duffy’19, and Bobby Diller’19 all wrestled in Madison. Kusi and Duffy both tied 1-1, Diller wrestled a tough match but ended 0-2, and Mills bested his opponent in only 27 seconds.

It was a great start for the Vikings as they get ready for another hard-fought season. The boys next match is Thursday, December 10 at home. Coe out and support our wrestlers.
