With a slight extension to the day, along with some exceptional scheduling manipulation on Mr. Dow’s part, an efficient and accommodating revision of our day begins this fall.

After students were informed that ten minutes would be added to their school day, they were unhappy and frustrated by the changes. This apprehension was relieved, however, after an explanation from Dow in the May 10th assembly. Given the possibilities that this new day offers, excitement welled up among the student body.

The simple addition of a forty-five minute period—both before and after lunch—opens new slots for students to fill as they intend.

Under the new schedule, students now will have a number of new opportunities to take electives and focus more heavily upon the arts. Students may now take computer science along with band, for example.

Additionally, the new schedule may provide students with more down time during the day to work on homework or seek guidance from teachers.

This revision to the day-to-day lives of Academy’s students may have a lasting impact in both helping us to relax and partake in new interests.
