The Columbus Academy track teams finished their season this past week and are now preparing for districts. The Boys placed 5th over all at MSL’s in London, Ohio.
Some competitors had to race both prelims on Tuesday the 10th and finals on Friday the 13th. In the 200meter dash on the 10th, Jerome Buckner’18 and Michael Kusi’17 placed 7th and 3rd respectively, which qualified them for finals. Buckner finished 3rd with a time of 22.95, and Kusi finished 6th with a time of 23.74.
Buckner also had to run the 400meter dash on both days, along with Kevin Boyce’17. Buckner took the 3rd place spot on both days and ran a 50.51 on Friday, while Boyce placed 6th at prelims and 5th at finals with a time of 52.38.
Academy placed 2nd and 6th with runners Atticus Lee’16 and Dylan Warren’17, respectively. Lee finished at a time of 2:02.49 and Warren a 2:07.53 on Friday night.
As relays go our team finished with high expectations for post-season. John Mills’16, Caleb Crawley’19, Nathan Sardo’17, and Hunter Moffatt’17 placed fourth in their 4×100 meter relay, with a time of 47.42. The 4×800 ran a time of 8:17.85,which put them in the 3rd place spot, with athletes Warren, Nicholas Robie’18, Logan Baker’16, and Lee.
Finishing out the meet with a bang, runners Moffatt, Baker, Boyce, and Buckner took first place at 3:26.65, with an extraordinary lead of 10.96 seconds in front of second place.
The team will attend districts at Whitehall this week, May 16th, and expects great outcomes.
