The Vikes fought hard up in Mount Gilead this past Saturday, May 7th, placing seventh out of ten teams and only a mere one and a half points shy of the sixth place spot.
This end result isn’t reflective of the runners’ performances. Nicholas Robie’18 placed second in the 3200meter run, and Andrew Heerman’16 came in 4th. They finished with 10:30.8 and 10:48.5, respectively.
Tommy Mampieri’17 ran and jumped to receive third place in the 300 hurdles, with a time of 44.7. Senior Atticus Lee ran a fantastic time of 2:03.0 and placed 3rd by a close .3 seconds to the second place stealer in the 800meter race.
The 4x800meter relay team of Grayson Mick’17, Nicholas Watson’18, Mampieri, and Lee hustled its way into 3rd place, with a finish of 9:10.0. Runners Michael Kusi’17, Hunter Moffett’17, Jack Mills’16, and Jerome Buckner’18 received their highest placements of the meet in the 4×2, where they took 2nd place at 1:37.5.
The Vikes are keeping up the great work as their regular season comes to a close. States are right around the corner
