Girls Lacrosse Suffers Tough Defeat

The girls lacrosse team faced a demanding matchup this past week against St. Francis DeSales on Thursday, May 5, for the Central Independent League title. With two of the top teams in the state facing off for the championship, this contest was bound to have a thrilling narrative.

The Vikings trailed 7-5 at halftime, but they proved their resilience by battling back. The girls scored four unanswered goals to begin the second half, putting the Vikes up 9-7.

The heated competition continued as the DeSales girls tied the game with under four minutes left in regulation. With neither team able to score in the final crunching moments, the game was extended to overtime with the first place league title on the line.

The girls unfortunately lost 13-12 in overtime, but they proved that they are able to define big moments. The team’s strength in character and skill points to a bright postseason ahead.
