This was yet another successful week for the boys baseball team, who has lost just one game so far this season after tying Amanda Clearcreek in a doubleheader on April 2. l
Co-captain and pitcher, senior Grey Harmon, said, “We want to make it further than just districts this year, and with the talent and chemistry we have on this team I think we can.”
On Tuesday, April 5, the Vikes faced off against Whitehall in their first conference game of the season. Academy dominated the game, winning with a score of 11-1. The boys gave a strong performance throughout the game, keeping a lead through each of the five innings. Defensively, Matthew Watters‘16 threw a shutout and allowed just two runs against Whitehall.
Harmon threw a perfect game and a one hitter in the only two outings he has pitched this season, a great feat for a pitcher. On the offensive side, Watters and Darren Bates‘17 have continuously put out strong standings, with Bates having at least one hit each game.
At a home game on April 6, the boys competed against West Jefferson in yet another conference game. Once again, the Vikings’ talent and team chemistry accrued them another victory, winning 5 to 3.
The strong showing from the team so far this year foreshadows a successful season.
The baseball team has three games this week against Madison Plains on Monday, April 11, Grandview Heights on Wednesday, April 13, and London on Friday, April 15.
