Girls Lacrosse Still in One Win-One Loss Pattern

The CA girls lacrosse teamĀ entered the week of April 3rd both steely-eyed and determined to win, following the previous weekend’s loss to rival Chagrin Falls. The girls began on a high note Tuesday, April 5, defeating conference opponent, Granville, 17-9 and improved their conference record to 2-0. Then the team faced New Albany, who had handed the Vikes its only loss during its 2015 championship season.

The game was tied 5-5 at half, after a well-fought first half by both talented sides. New Albany, however, went on a 6-0 run to start the second, and our girls never overcame the deficit.

With the 11-5 loss, the Vikes fell to 2-3 on the season while the Eagles moved to 6-1.

The result of the New Albany game and others in this early going may remark on the relative strength of this year’s team. While both schools continue to be ranked top in the state, New Albany reasserted its dominance in this meeting.

It would not be surprising if these two accomplished squads are again in the same conversation come tournament time. As the girls lacrosse team has shown before, it is never down for long.
