After competing at sectionals this past Friday, February 12, the boys placed sixth out of 28 teams, only six points away from fifth place. Captain Emre Kahraman’16 placed 13th out of the 159 bowlers that participated. Kahraman bowled 185 in the first game, 200 in the second, and 213 in the third, giving him a total of 598 pins.
Academy ended with a final score of 2,637 across all three regular games and a total of 3,745 pins over the five baker games. The boys will play at districts held on Thursday, February 18. The top two teams will advance to states
The girls, who will not advance to district, fought strongly, ending with a final score of 2,573 across all three regular games and all five baker games. While Metty Schroeder and Samantha Hunker’16 will be advancing individually, the team finished 17th out of 26 places, only three places away from qualifying for districts.
Academy’s lead bowler for the girls was senior captain Metty Schroeder, who placed 39th out of 157 participants. Schroeder bowled a 149 in the first game, a 148 in the second game, and a 122 in the third game.
