Boys Soccer
After a scare this past Wednesday in its overtime victory over Wellington, the boys soccer team took care of business against Columbus International in the District Final. The Vikings escaped with another 1-0 victory, behind a goal scored by George Daoud’14. This Wednesday, October 30, the team will play Worthington Christian in the regional semifinal at Dublin Jerome. The regular season matchup against Worthington Christian resulted in a 2-0 victory.
Girls Soccer
After an impressive 2-0 triumph over top seed Worthington Christian, another 2-0 win against CSG, and a comeback 2-1 finish against Fairbanks, the girls soccer team is district champions! Freshman, Sophie Krings, has played a tremendous role this post-season, and her game-winning goal against Fairbanks solidified the team’s win on Saturday. The girls square off against Bishop Fenwick on Tuesday, October 29, at Hilliard Bradley.
Girls Tennis
After competing in the state tournament last weekend, the Viking Tennis team wrapped up its season with a 4th place finish. Congratulations to all team participants on a great season,especially senior Hannah Wexner who had an extraordinary 4 years at Columbus Academy.
Field Hockey
Academy football has made it back to the state final four once again! After an intense double overtime rematch of last year’s state championship game, the Vikings prevailed as district champs on Saturday. The team will play Cincinnati Mount Notre Dame at Upper Arlington High-School on Friday, November 1, as it hopes to return to the state championship for second consecutive year–potentially against rival, Thomas Worthington!
Boys Cross Country
The boys cross country team concluded an impressive season on Saturday as it finished 7th overall at the regional tournament. The team faced a lot of adversity throughout the season and still found a way to place exceptionally high on such a tough course. All senior runners will be sincerely missed next season, and congratulations to the entire team on a great year.
Girls Cross Country
Academy’s girls cross country team qualified for the state tournament for the 3rd consecutive year. The team finished as runner-ups at the regional, largely in part to the 3rd place finish by Julia Rizk’15 and the 6th place finish by Audrey Grammel’17. The Vikes will run in the state competition thisSaturday, November 2!

Football
After a convincing win over Lutheran East on Friday night, the Vikings control their own destiny in the playoff race. With a potential week 10 victory against rival Bexley, the Vikings hope to keep the Governor’s Cup for a 6th straight year, send off a senior class with a 4-0 record against the Lions, and ultimately qualify for the playoffs for the first time in 7 years. Academy will play at Bexley on November 1.
