Girls soccer (8-1-3) blew past Bishop Ready (7-5) on Saturday, October 10, to extend its winning streak of late to three as they face Cristo Rey (0-8) on Monday at 5:30 p.m.

The Vikings will then take on Whitehall-Yearling (4-7-1) on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m., followed by Western Reserve (10-2-2) on Saturday at 11:30, completing three progressively difficult games in one week.

Avery M. says, “This week is probably the busiest we’veseen all season . . . but we’re ready to push through as a team.”

Regarding Bishop Ready, Medina said the team wanted to focus on “honing [its] style of play,” and “connecting all over the field.” This proved to be a great game plan, as the Vikings completed a 4-0 rout.

Following the opening whistle against the Silver Knights, Lexi F. first put the Vikings on the board with a strike right around the 18-yard box. Building on that early momentum, Sydney S. scored after being played a through ball to cut past her defender’s blind side, and placed it neatly into the goalie’s bottom-right hand corner.

The Vikings stayed relentless even after the halftime whistle, as Seher R. netted a screamer from 30 yards out to extend their lead to 3. Smoot scored shortly after with a swift give-and-go sequence to complete a counterattack (32’ 2H) to secure her brace.

The Vikings should be favored for their first two games, but may be evenly matched in their 11:30 a.m. Saturday fixture.
