On Wednesday, March 4, the boys basketball team hosted Utica for the district semifinals. The Vikings came out strong against the Redskins and led throughout the game, winning 70-36. This win punched in a ticket to the district finals for Academy.
The boys traveled to Mount Vernon to face Harvest Prep on Saturday, March 7, in district finals. The Vikings dominated in the first quarter, outscoring the Warriors 18-7. Harvest Prep bounced back in the second quarter and managed to shrink Academy’s lead to 32-25. Post halftime, both teams came out hungry for the title. In the third, the Warriors managed to tally 12 more points while the Vikings captured 11, bringing the score to 43-37. In the final quarter, Harvest Prep snatched the lead, but Jason S. quickly responded, going on a 7-0 run seal the victory for Academy. This 55-48 win marks Academy’s second-straight District V title.
