On Thursday, January 15, Academy’s co-ed hockey team continued its late-season surge with a convincing 3–0 victory over Northeast Storm, a win that pushed the Viking’s record to 7–12 and extended their winning streak to three games. The shutout performance highlighted the team’s growing confidence as they built momentum heading into the next stretch of the season.
Academy set the tone early in the first period when senior captain Scotty A. opened the scoring with a goal assisted by Owen L. The early lead energized the Vikings and allowed them to dictate the pace of play. Later, the team capitalized on a power-play opportunity, with Josh S. finding the back of the net off an assist from Scotty, giving Academy a crucial two-goal cushion.
The Vikings sealed the win in the third period when Landon L. scored an unassisted goal, putting the game out of reach and capping off a strong offensive and defensive effort. Academy’s defense remained disciplined throughout the match, limiting scoring chances and preserving the shutout.
After the game, Scotty emphasized the team’s physical style of play as a key factor in the win. “We played a physical game and came out with the win,” he said, reflecting the team’s determination during this recent stretch of success.
With momentum on their side, the Vikings now turn their attention to their next matchup against Coffman at Chiller North, scheduled for Friday, January 23. As the season continues, the team looks to carry this energy forward and keep its winning streak alive.
