Service Board leaders Miranda and Dane announced a new initiative, Grants for Good, a program that allows clubs and affinity groups to host Service events, after their Shapers’ unanimous approval last November and approval by our Upper School administrators.
To receive a grant, clubs and affinity groups must apply at least 45 days before the event and must outline the delivery, planning, and show prior permission to use the space(s) needed for their Service activity, which must produce something for an existing organization that CA has previously worked with (such as Faith Mission). Shapers will evaluate applications.
Additional considerations include the option to award Service hours to participating students, which must be specified in the application. An adult sponsor must attend a MobileServe orientation, as they are the only individuals who can verify Service hours. Leaders must also provide an estimated cost and time commitment for the activity and sign the application to ensure all individuals are aware of and receive the results of the application
After an event, club leaders and adult sponsors must share receipts, pictures, and a list of attendees (including hours served) within five days to Ms. Bening and the Service Board. Photos should also be uploaded to a folder titled: “Service and Community 2025-26.”
With Grants for Good, Service Board now provides a new way for clubs and affinity groups to come together through Service to the greater community.
