The boys wrestling team hosted the Kevin Michael Memorial invitational in the Jones gym on Saturday, January 10, marking its second meet of the season and the first one in the new year. The Vikes’ seven wrestlers placed fifth out of seven teams with a tally of 65.
Freshman Greyson K. went one-and-one in the 113-pound pool, earning second place out of three wrestlers. He pinned Buckeye Valley’s Tyler S. in round one, had a bye in the second match, and was pinned by Sheridan’s Alex N. in round three.
Freshman Gavin H. went 3-2 in the 120 weight class to place third out of six competitors. He beat Gahanna Lincoln’s Campbell S. in round one, was pinned by Sheridan’s Erza S. in round two, pinned Christo Rey’s Emberly M. in round three, was pinned by Buckeye Valley’s Robert D. in round four, and pinned Gahanna Lincoln’s first extra wrestler Ian D., in round five.
Sophomore Joseph G. finished seventh in the 138-pound weight class with six losses, beginning against New Albany’s Adrian M., had a bye in the second round, fell to Buckeye Valley’s second extra wrestler, Roman D., in round three, fell again in round four to Grandview Heights Nick Y., lost to Buckeye Valley’s Tyler L. in round five, lost to New Albany’s Tyson B. in round six, and fell to Sheridan’s Drew S. in round seven.
Junior Ishaan V. placed fifth out of six in the 150 pool, going 1-4, getting pinned by Hoyt M. of Sheridan, pinned by Cristo Rey’s Nestor P. in the second, and again by Gahanna Lincoln’s Louie S. in round three. He pinned Buckeye Valley’s Ashton B. in round four but was pinned by New Albany’s Justin S. in round five.
Senior Henry S. placed second out of four participants in pool B of the 165 weight class with two wins and one loss. He pinned Gahanna Lincoln’s Beau B. in round one, won by default against New Albany’s second extra wrestler Sam P., and was pinned in the third by Sheridan’s SJ S.
Sophomore Paul A. fourth out of five in the 175 weight class pool with a 1-3 record. He had a bye in round one, was pinned by New Albany’s Landon B. in round two, defeated by Buckeye Valley’s Gabe O. in round three, and again by Grandview Heights’ Danny M. in round four, and pinned Cristo Rey’s Fawaz O. in round five.
Sophomore Josh L. went 1-2 in pool A of the 190-pound weight class to place third out of four wrestlers. He won his first match against New Albany’s first extra wrestler, J.J. A., who was pinned by New Albany’s Kyle K. in round two, and again by Buckeye Valley’s Parker M. in round three.
The team looks to improve on Saturday, January 17, at The North Union Tournament.

The team looks to improve in the Barton Room during senior night against Cristo Rey on Wednesday, January 14 at 4:45 PM, and on Saturday, January 17 at The North Union Tournament at 9 AM.
