On Friday, September 26, the football team traveled to Bexley to face the Lions. 

Bexley started with the ball but struggled to get things going on offense. In contrast, the Vikings capitalized on their first possession with Michael T. tossing a pass to Gabe D-R. for a touchdown. The Lions got the ball back, and their quarterback, Bren P. threw a 33-yd pass to to tie it up. 

In the second quarter, Academy started with the ball but failed to execute. Bexley players, Bren P. and JT. connected and racked up another 7 points. Academy clapped back with a 20-yard rushing touchdown by Gabe. On defense, Parker S. kept the momentum, rolling by forcing a fumble for scoop and score. The Vikings headed into halftime with a 20-14 lead. 

Post halftime, neither team scored in the third quarter. In the final stretch, Gabe tallied two more touchdowns while Charlie P. captured one. Academy’s defense kept Bexley out of the endzone the entire second half, resulting in a 40-14 victory for the Vikes. 

Academy will host Franklin Heights on Friday, October 3.
