The baseball team tallied three wins and one loss in its third week of the season, losing to Worthington Christian 9-6 on Monday, April 14, but bouncing back with victories over Whitehall 21-1 on Wednesday, April 16; Fredericktown 7-4 on Thursday, April 17; and Hamilton Township 4-0 on Friday, April 18.
By the end of the first inning, Academy took an early 2-0 lead against the Warriors; however, the game proved to be close, as Academy entered the fifth with a 4-3 lead. The Warriors pulled away in the fifth, scoring five runs against Academy’s zero. The Vikings fought for another two runs but were not enough as the Warriors held onto their lead to close out the game in a 6-9 loss for the Vikings, with Dominic D., Theo F., Joey G., Cooper L., Trey R., and Thomas R. each scoring one run.
Thursday’s game against Whitehall was a different story. The Vikings exploded offensively as they pulled away and never looked back, with Dominic, William D., Theo, Harmon G., Joey, Cooper, Anthony P., Trey, Thomas, and Sunil S. contributing towards the 3 runs per inning average in a 21-1 beatdown against the Rams.
The Vikings rode on their momentum into Thursday, April 17, with a face-off against the Fredericktown Freddies. Academy came out on top in a tight matchup, once again led by Dominic, Theo, Harmon, Joey, Thomas, and Sunil, securing a 7-4 win against the Freddies.
Academy capped off its week with a strong performance against Hamilton Township on Friday, April 18. Solid pitching, defense, and four total runs for Dominic, Theo, and Sunil contributed to the Vikings 4-0 shutout.
The boys will play a rematch at Whitehall on Monday, April 21, followed by back-to-back rivalry games against the Bexley Lions on Wednesday, April 23, and Friday, April 25.
