Girls Swimming Punches in a Ticket to States

On Friday, February 14, girls swimming traveled to the Ohio University Aquatic Center to compete in districts. The Vikings excelled, taking home district runner-up for the second time in the past four seasons.

Both relay teams had podium finishes and qualified for states. The 200-yd freestyle team captured gold with a time of 1:38.14 and the 400-yd freestyle squad earned silver with a time of 3:35.76. Lillian B. and Olivia L. were key contributors to the team’s success, finding the podium in all of their events.

Lillian finished first in the 200 IM and third in the 100-yd butterfly. Meanwhile, Olivia took home silver in the 50-yd and 100-yd freestyle. Olivia’s stellar performance broke the school record for the 50-yd freestyle event, and she now holds this honor with a time of 23.94. Maddie E. also earned a ticket to states for her performance in the 50-yd and 100-yd freestyle event. Morgan S. also heads to Canton to compete in the 50-yd freestyle.

These four individuals will represent Academy at states on Wednesday, February 19, in Canton.
