Super Bowl LIX is set as we will see the Philadelphia Eagles facing up against the reigning Super Bowl champs, Kansas City Chiefs. The two will meet in New Orleans on Sunday, February 9, in the Caesars Superdome. Now we take a look at the key players and strategies for the two respective teams. Kansas City is once again headlined by the star duo of quarterback Patrick Mahomes, and future hall of fame tight end, Travis Kelce. Although the production of both of these players has not been at the high standard many fans are used to seeing from the past couple seasons, the stars have a knack for playing their best games on the biggest stages. Don’t be surprised if we see historic performances by these two paired with stellar play by their defense. The Eagles, on the other hand, will be showcasing star running back, Saqon Barkley, and quarterback, Jalen Hurts, as the forefront of their offensive attack. Barkley, the favorite for the offensive player of the year, has continued to rack up incredible plays all season long and has officially cleared the two-thousand yard mark in rushing. Philadelphia enters this game as slight favorites, but you can never count out Mahomes and the Chiefs in a game of this magnitude.
This weekend saw perhaps the most shocking trade in the history of the NBA. The Dallas Mavericks traded superstar Luka Doncic to the Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis in a move that nobody, not even the players, saw coming. At first many, including myself, thought Shams got hacked, but he quickly doubled down to confirm the trade. The Mavericks General Manager said the team had concerns over Luka’s weight and apparent laziness and wanted to obtain a defensive anchor who can also score. The Lakers, however, view Luka as someone who can be the face of the franchise for the next decade. It is too soon now to determine who won this trade, but we will get our first look at Luka’s return to Dallas on February 25, when the Lakers and Mavericks face off on TNT.
